Let's go sailing!

One of my favorite DS9 episodes is “Explorers” . Tomorrow, the basis for this episode becomes a reality. Cosmos 1, actually based on a Carl Sagan concept, will be sent into space on a converted Volna intercontinental ballistic missile (WMD found). Once in space, it will deploy mylar solar sails hoping to catch a ride on streams of photons from the sun’s rays, basically sunlight.
