I had forgotten the "Black Smoke" of Wells' original text. Hard to believe that a sci fi story 115 years old still holds up as well as this one does. Still, you cannot help but notice some of the flaws in this original story that carried over to the movie. Could the movie been made as a "period piece" from 1894 England and made it as historical science fiction? They certainly did that with both versions of "The Time Machine" and it worked well. Oh well.. Finally, the scenes in the farmhouse common to all three vehicles (novel and both movies) is still moving and creepy, if for no other reason Wells oughta get a posthumous Hugo award for creating this particular scene. Thanks for the quick refresher Cheryl.. I appreciated it.
DARK HORSE Comics is also doing a cool web comic of the original story Here.
