Firefly frenzy
With just 49 days until the release of Serenity (but who’s counting), I am seeing Firefly mentioned more and more. Great! That’s exactly what I want to see, what we all want to see. Even though I don’t agree with the bizarre scheduling of the show on the Scifi channel, at least the series is getting some much deserved air time. Even Robert is single handedly trying to spread the word about Firefly. Go get the DVD set of the series, he promises you won't be disappointed. It’s really quite sad that until Alex mentioned the series and movie back in March, I had never even heard about this wonderful concept dreamed up by Joss Whedon. But now I know and I am also spreading the word.
First, Joss Whedon and Dark Horse Comics have come out with a series of comic books that pick up where the series left off. The intention is to bridge the gap between the series and the movie. I have already read the first of the three comic books. This idea definitely deserves at least 4 and ½ aliens in my book. Because of the involvement of Whedon and Brett Matthews, the comic books definitely maintain the mood of the series. Read more about the comic book series here. Better yet, you can buy your very own here.
Second, you can purchase some lovely Firefly t-shirts. Special thanks to Steve, our ever diligent reader, for finding this website. Someone at SCIFIPUNDIT has a birthday coming up. I bet one of these t-shirts might be on his ever growing “what I want for my birthday” list….
Lastly, I found this enlightening website that gives you the English translation of the Chinese being spoken and seen on Firefly. Mr. Whedon demonstrates his ingenuity by adding a Chinese influence to his vision of the future.
In 49 days you should be at the movie theater with us watching this movie. We will save you some popcorn.

I agree that there does seem to be momentum growing in the enthusiasm for the movie. I believe I remain as excited as you and the clips they keep showing during Firefly reruns look great!
