End of season one for BSG

The mini series Battlestar Galactica is coming to a season close this weekend, I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode and hope the great imagination of the writers for the show continue their amazing story lines. I think it is wonderful to talk with other fans who enjoy it just as much, even though one of my friends wont admit I am right about some of the males on the show being submissive and she knows it's true. I do however think the acting is great, they seem to have me hoping for another Friday each week aside from the fact it's the end of another work week I get to see another episode and with this weeks cliffhanger I cant wait for summer to start and for the new season to begin. Getting to see Starbuck at the quickly arriving Starfest will be a thrill for me as well as others who I know are going. I see a series, that if they continue with the formula they are using it will go far on Sci Fi channel... Lets all hope

Katee Sackoff A.K.A Starbuck attending Starfest

Battlestar Galactica star, Katee Sackoff is coming to the Mile hi city for an appearance at Starfest The young actress from Portland Or was raised on star trek and calls her self a sci fi buff, I think its so cool she taken the time to come see our convention and it will be great to hear her feeling on the show, and where it might be going. I hope they ( Starland) bring on more folks from the show and now that Star Trek is cancelled, I am sure a lot of folks are gonna jump on board this new scifi thriller. I know I am a huge fan of the show. Maybe they should have grabbed the writers from this show to do scripts for Star Trek and it would still be on the air ...Who knows?

Terrorism and politics on Battltestar Galactica

The idea of a terrorist running for vice president of the colonies seemed a farfetched premise for a storyline for Battlestar Galactica Scifi.com seemed to pull it off, the writers for the mini series brought the sensitive subject matter of terrorism to the screen. I thought they did a great job showing how politics can be even more dangerous, than the most ruthless of terrorist who only hopes to bring down the ragtag government, suppressing his ideals and beliefs whether they be right or wrong. I think the writers are showing great creativity in their story lines bringing some of today's issues into stories of the future. The creators and writers seem to bring into their scripts and storylines, a lot of today's important social issues such as politics, religion, terrorism, and race. I am proud to say I am a huge fan of the show and hope it continues to make us all think about where society is coming from and where it is heading, as all the star trek series did throughout the many years it aired and continues to air through syndication

Battlestar Galatica ... Submissive Males?

I had an enlightening chat with a good friend this eve, I think she is right on some parts of our conversation in part about the show being very well done and good characters bringing the story to life... However we do differ on other issues of the series. One thing we find a difference on is how males are portrayed on the show. She doesn't see them weak minded as I do with some but not all of the males. I think think that Commander Adama shows the excellent quality of leadership needed to lead a fleet of ships across the universe or troops anywhere. I believe Col. Tigh does a fabulous job as second in command, but falters to his wife's' will, seemingly easily swayed by her charms. Apollo shows potential as being a great leader as well, but seems to be looking for respect from his friend Starbuck, who is a strong personality and who seems to almost overshadow Apollo, episode after episode. Lt Boomer shows great skill as a officer in the fleet and one excellent cylon, pushing her partner Helo, further than he believed he could go. Then there is Baltar...ahh Baltar the true essence of a submissive male. I just want to bytch slap back to manhood but he is a great character to hate each week. There are other great characters on the show and I hope they introduce a few more. I would love to see them balance the show of strength more equally between the cast and not push one side or the other so much... well maybe next season.

Firefly the Movie

It seems Oscar and Emmy nominated Joss Whedon took over the big directors chair for the first time with the making of the of the highly fan anticipated Firefly movie titled Serenity (named for the ship) after the short lived run on Fox T.V. Network. The long awaited movie can be seen on the big screen in late September of 2005 pushed back from its' April release date. Hopefully if it does well at the box office we will see more of this quite original story come to the screen. I am excited to see as I am sure many fans are, that Joss is continuing his wonderfully successful career in Sci fi and fantasy. I know fans of Joss (such as my self) are excited to see what's next.

Star Trek Movies on Sci fi channel last eve

Those of you who enjoy the Star Trek movies had a treat last night on the Sci-Fi channel, A way to rub our noses in the fact the the Enterprise series is cancelled. The perfect venue for the show to be picked up by a network, the Sci Fi channel could easily continue the series as they did for Andromeda a few years ago. I am a little curious if in fact enough people wrote in to the Sci Fi channel might they pick up the show?... who knows

End of an era for now

Seems as though "The Big Wigs" in their infinite wisdom at UPN have decided to end the latest run of the Star Trek series. I guess the ratings for reality based series, with people eating worms and other foul things or what to wear or not wear, are slightly higher than that of a show that brought fans together all over the world to see what Capt. Archer and the rest of the crew were up to. And forgive me if I am wrong on this point, but I do not remember seeing any conventions for Fear Factor or Top Model (not that I would attend them if I did happen to come across one.) anywhere around the United States like I have for the Star Trek franchise for so many years now. These are places for fans to come together and share what they feel for the shows that most of us watch religiously over and over again. Show me the values that the two aforementioned shows provide. At the very least we had the opportunity to learn something that may help us in our everyday lives from the show each week, even if we didn't intend to.
