So this is Blogging? I set up this site for fans, enthusiasts and anyone else interested in Sci-Fi so that they may discuss their hopes, dreams, and wishes for what's to come in the universe of Science Fiction, Paranormal or Fantasy.

This and that

I received an email today from my good friend Karen. You may remember Karen from her encounter with William Shatner at last year's Starfest. We still talk about our good fortune in finding ourselves in the same room with such greatness. Nonetheless, Karen sent this website Trek Passions : Free Sci Fi Dating & Personals. Who would have thought a dating site for scifi fans? Brilliant! They have links to lots of other cool sites as well. I am going to add some of these links to our list.

Among the noteworthy links I found were Speculative Fiction. What I like about this site is that is it very informative without being wordy. And their logo is very clever.

I also found this interview with BSG's producer Ron Moore. There are many good insights into the future of BSG, although I really wouldn't call them spoilers. Enjoy!

Google's Latest Site

Google announced this week the release of Google Mars to go along with Google Earth and Google Moon. The new site will show temperature variances as well as terrain, and locations of important areas across the planet such as the location of the Mars Rover. I have not seen the site yet but from what I have heard and read about it, the site should be interesting to explore for a few hours from time to time. I can't wait to see what the next planet is that they add to their list. Please let us know here at SCIFIPUNDIT if you have viewed the newest site and what you think.

The Doctor Is In or Is He Out? Only the Fans Will Tell In Time.

Dr. Who is sited in America with the premiere of the longest running sci fi show in BBC history this one seems to have potential to be a great show if American fans of scifi can get used to British humor which I have noticed, sometimes escapes folks in the United States. The Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston shows some great wit when dealing with what he describes as backward humans of earths’ past time line. The BBC series has found wonderful acclaim in the United Kingdom, becoming a cult classic and we will see if it gains a foot hold with fans of the old series. I think I will give it a chance to show its’ colors, let us know here it SCIFIPUNDIT what you think of the show, we wanna hear.

Starfest only weeks away

Starfest seems to have set up quite the guest line up this year. Guests from SG 1, Battlestar Galactica and Lord Of The Rings Trilogy have been set up to join us here in Denver. I am seriously impressed with what the crew for Starfest have planned, including the wide variety of panels and discussion groups, the model show my good friend Garry will be entered in again and the huge star studded guest list brought here to the west, not to mention the friends and parties planned every night of the con. I have been attending sci- fi conventions since I was a kid and trust me that was many moons ago, and this is gonna be a great time for any new folks attending for the first time as well as those who haven’t missed one yet. I hope we here at SCIFIPUNDIT have a banner telling folks we are there at Starfest and if you see us please say hi and let us know what you think of our blog we love to hear from folks that read what we put our hearts into. Hope to see ya!

Completing Another Tour of Duty for Battlestar Galactica Cast And Crew

This season's ending for BSG again shows the talents of the writers and creative minds of the producers working overtime with the seemingly end of the human race. I was seriously surprised with the destruction of the ship Cloud Nine and a jumping forward of a year in the story line and the placing of the colonists on New Caprica. I guess Ron Moore was right in saying the last episode of the season would blow peoples minds, it was definitely the case with me. It was amazing to see the social collapse of the human race in just one year with the lack of concern of the government and the social ills of those that settled on their new home. The reappearance of the Cylons was a given and I am sure not that big a surprise to the fans of the show, but to see the remainder of the fleet abandon the settlers was. I know most fans of the show will be biting at the bit till the season 3 premiere in October at least I know I will be, so maybe I will check out the new Dr Who series that is replacing BSG for a few months. Please make sure to send any comments you have on the show or anything else to us here at SCIFIPUNDIT we love to hear from folks and can’t wait to see any or all of you at Starfest coming up in April.

Recipes For Drinks At StarFest

I came across some ideas for drinks for Starfest this year. One is for a Harry Potter theme beverage called Butter Beer and actually sounded quite good so may have to try it. The other is for a drink from the Melting Pot called the Yin and Yang which I am sure my dear friend, Cheryl, will want to try since it does have white chocolate in it and other ingredients. I will pass these recipes along soon, and Cheryl I think we need to buy some rum for the Warp Cores so we can help our Klingon friend John. And if anyone else out there has an idea for a new drink to try out be it scifi or fantasy related so please let us know here at SCIFIPUNDIT we are always up for a drink or two ...

UPDATE 03/10/06
I am back from my time off from the blog. Alex is cracking the whip! I found the recipes for most of these drinks except the Warp Core Breaches as they are from the Klingons secret drink recipe, they won't even share it with us! The recipe for the Yin and Yang drink is as follows:

Godiva White Chocolate
Stoli Vanil Vodka
Creme de Cacao
Ice Cream
Chocolate shavings

I will leave it up to you fine folks to decide how much of each ingredient to add. And yes, I would like to give a Yin and Yang a try. Here's another drink we should try. Lemon Drop Martinis. Delish! Now, please don't get the wrong impression, we will be doing more than drinking at Starfest. This year's guest list is going to keep us pretty busy. But I've said it before and I'll say it again there's nothing like drinking at 3am with your Klingon friends sans the powerpoint! And Alex, yes there will be rum per your request. I shall make it so.
